LA Galaxy draw Houston Dynamo 3-3 on the road

Teams split points in feisty encounter

Not much has gone right for LA this season.

Well, tonight wasn’t much different. Capitalizing on an own goal from the Houston defense, the Galaxy squandered a two goal lead in the second half to draw the Dynamo 3-3 Wednesday night at BBVA Compass Stadium.

Just three minutes in, DaMarcus Beasley misplayed a routine clearance off his leg and past a stunned Tyler Deric into the net. Then in the 12th minute, Ashley Cole managed to slip Romain Alessandrini inside the box, who shot a laser around a helpless Deric as the Galaxy were suddenly ahead 2-0.

The lead didn’t last long. In the 26th minute, Tomas Martinez collected a pass from AJ DeLaGarza and pulled a left footed shot from close range around a flat-footed Clement Diop to give Houston hope.

However, after Jonathan dos Santos did well to force a Dynamo turnover, Rafael Garcia played Giovani through in space and his square ball located the sprinting Bradford Jamieson IV who powered home.

Houston didn’t give up however, and when Alberth Elis converted a penalty kick late, it seemed inevitable the dam would break.

It did. Off a Vincente Sanchez corner kick, Elis re-directed a pinpoint header into the right corner of the net to draw a wild match.
