Michael Ciani had a less than stellar debut as the Galaxy were comprehensively defeated 4-0 by a Toronto FC side missing Sebastian Giovinco and Jozy Altidore Saturday night at the StubHub Center.

LA had their first dangerous chance in the 16th minute when Jonathan dos Santos blasted a cannon from 35 yards away that just zipped above the crossbar. Not too long afterwards, Jon Kempin did well to deny an open Victor Vasquez blast outside the 18.
However, the Galaxy would concede off a broken play: While LA were organizing the wall during a routine free kick, Vasquez lobbed a quick shot that smashed the left goalpost before Drew Moor got to the ball first and re-directed a diving header past Kempin.
TFC doubled the lead in the 37th minute when Tosaint Ricketts beat the offside trap and slipped a low shot from point-blank range around Kempin.
There weren’t a lot of positives for LA, who were throughly dominated by a club universally regarded as the best in the league. Toronto would run up the score late with Ricketts scoring in the 76th minute and a Ciani error gifting Vasquez a goal three minutes later to seal the rout.
Next LA head to ATL to battle Atlanta United FC Wednesday at brand new Mercedes-Benz stadium.
