It’s looking more likely this season will be Jelle’s last in a LA Galaxy uniform

A report out of Europe yesterday claiming Jelle Van Damme was offered a 2-year-deel with Royal Antwerp had gathered steam over the past 24 hours, and the 2017 MLS All-Star defender let his feelings be known on a special Chicago edition of ExtraTime Radio.

That was Van Damme describing new Galaxy head coach manager Sigi Schmid, who Jelle compared favorably to Bruce Arena as another old-school coach.

When asked about his future after this season, Van Damme was tight lipped at first, reiterating that a move back home would only happen for family reasons. Then Jelle began to discuss his two children.

“I miss them. They miss me. It’s much harder than last year. Teams know that in Belgium.”

Van Damme finished the question by suggesting he might clear things up in the coming days, but when the subject of his kids was brought up again, the big Belgium revealed his personal struggles with staying in Los Angeles while his kids continue to pine for his return.

It’s looking more and more likely this will be Van Damme’s final season in a Galaxy uniform.
