What a weird game that turned out to be, but nonetheless, the LA Galaxy still came away with an important point in a 2-2 tie.

Jelle Van Damme gave away the penalty kick, on Nemanja Nikolic in the 11th minute. Then the captain was substituted 21 minutes later after he was out position when the Fire scored the second goal of the opening half.

It’s never good when you have to use a second substitution in the first 45 minutes, but that is what happened to Curt Onalfo Saturday night. Jermaine Jones hurt his knee after taking a ball to his head and came off the pitch 10 minutes after Van Damme.

But this side responded extremely well after the halftime interval.

Daniel Steres pulled one back 11 minutes after the restart, with Giovani dos Santos rounding leveling the match nine minutes later.

While they were unable to find the winning goal, this is something to build on for the coming weeks. If a performance is not like the second half tonight, then it will be deemed not good enough.
