This new formation from Curt Onalfo seems to be doing the trick on the defensive side of things. And because of that, you should not expect any changes from last week’s starting XI, except maybe at right back.
One thing that this lineup has struggled to do in the last couple of weeks, however, is score goals. They last scored a goal in the 83rd minute against Orlando and have now gone 187 minutes without finding the back of the net.
Can that change today? We can only hope that it does.
Goalkeeper: Rowe
While largely untested against the Philadelphia Union, Brian Rowe should get the nod once more for the LA Galaxy on Saturday night.
Defense: Diallo, Steres, Van Damme, Cole
It seems as if Onalfo is simply testing out options at right back currently, seeing who might be the best fit at that slot in the long run. That is why you should expect to see Bradley Diallo in that position against the Chicago Fire.
Midfield: Pedro, Husidic
Baggio Husidic looks to have found a role in this lineup after all. He provides better cover for the back line and sweeps up any mistakes left by Baggio Husidic.
Attacking midfielders: Alessandrini, Jones, Dos Santos
This is where the chemistry needs some fine tuning again. Jermaine Jones needs to watch his spacing in the final third, while looking to spread the ball out wide to either Romaine Alessandrini or Giovani dos Santos.
Forward: Zardes
Gyasi Zardes needs to get something going on the offensive side of the pitch. If he can contribute directly to a Galaxy goal tonight, that should give him the confidence further into the season.
The Galaxy take on the Chicago Fire tonight at 7:30 PM PST. Follow along at @LAGConfidential, where we will bring you all the updates throughout the night.
