LA Galaxy surf up the MLS Power Rankings

TFC capture the top spot and RSL is still terrible

I’m not going to lie, the title made it tough not to squeeze in as many Point Break references as possible. Ok, Romain Alessandrini is a badass but he’s no Johnny Utah, and Curt Onalfo isn’t cranky and disheveled enough to resemble Pappas. (Maybe Bruce though)

“Romain! Get me two!”

The good news is, after what was easily LA’s best performance of the season, the Galaxy have moved up to the No. 15 slot in this week’s MLS Power Rankings.

Let's all give Curt Onalfo a round of applause for what was one of the gutsiest subs in MLS history last week. He yanked Jelle Van Damme, his captain and best defender, as a punitive measure before the break against Chicago, and his team has responded with their three best halves of the season. It was a huge risk – Onalfo could've lost the locker room entirely. Instead it seems like he won his team's attention, and now they're winning points.

Can LA keep the momentum going this weekend on national television vs. Minnesota United?
