LA Galaxy freefall in Week 5 MLS Power Rankings

Galaxy drop all the way to 19th place

MLS: Los Angeles Galaxy at Vancouver Whitecaps FC Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports

Romain Alessandrini might have found his offensive mojo, but once again a disjointed and aimless LA Galaxy team were outplayed and outclassed in a 4-2 loss in Vancouver vs. the Whitecaps.

And the MLS Ranking politburo responded in kind, dropping the Galaxy another five spots as LA slid all the way down to a lowly No. 19 ranking.

It’s not exactly undeserved. The grim stats speak for themselves: LA have three points in four matches, with their only win coming against an Real Salt Lake side that’s arguably the worst team in the league. (Minnesota United usurped their dignity back with a thumping 4-2 win vs. RSL over the weekend. Btw, MNUTD is above the Galaxy in the standings right now)

LA are dealing with a litany of injuries and other problems at the moment, so its far too early to panic. That being said, the Galaxy can’t afford to dig themselves into too deep of a hole.
