If this is true, the LA Galaxy could be shorthanded when they take on the Portland Timbers in an important match this Sunday.
Fox Soccer TV analyst Stuart Holden has revealed that LA Galaxy midfielder Jermaine Jones could be suspended for one match by the league’s disciplinary committee for a late tackle in the 17th minute that earned Jones a yellow at the time.
Hearing @MLS Dis Co. will retroactively suspend Jermaine Jones 1 match for this tackle (thx @TotalMLS), which was initially deemed a Yellow. pic.twitter.com/oatiaIRYYn

To his credit, Holden doesn’t believe it was a dirty play, as he explains in a follow-up tweet.
Tackle is reckless, but I think a yellow is the right call. Doesn’t get the ball, but a genuine attempt at the ball and not excessive force

Could Jones be the first victim of DisCo’s wrath? Quite possibly. The tackle certainly looks worse than it turned out, but its never a good look when you trap the attacker’s foot between your legs, which Jones does with his late slide.
Accidental as it was, Cristian Colmán could have easily been injured on the play, which goes some way in justifying a retroactive suspension.
You never know, but Holden’s a reliable source, so don’t be surprised if Jones isn’t allowed to suit up this Sunday.
