Too much firepower for LA to overcome

FC Dallas came into town and spoiled Curt Onalfo’s debut, riding away with a 2-1 victory over the LA Galaxy Saturday afternoon at the StubHub Center.

After a hard fought opening 45 minutes that featured lots of open play but few chances, save a goal line clearance from Jelle Van Damme, FC Dallas broke through in the 47th minute when a giveaway led Maxi Urriti to embark on a solo run and finish past Brian Rowe.

The Galaxy pulled one back in the 54th minute when Dave Romney was pulled down in the box and Giovani dos Santos converted the penalty, but the lead was short-lived. Midfielder Kellyn Acosta collected from Ronald Lamah and burst across the 18-yard-box before unleashing a low cannon past a helpless Rowe and into the net.

LA almost pulled one back when Jermaine Jones’ header off a corner knocked off the post and out, but FC Dallas would hold on to seal the victory.
