The LA Galaxy II confirmed Friday afternoon that the former 17th overall selection in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft, Miguel Aguilar, has signed with the USL club. In return, D.C. United will receive a fourth round pick in the 2018 draft.

Aguilar spent the last two seasons playing in the nation’s capital with D.C. United. During his time there, the 23-year-old did see some game action while with the club, appearing in 23 matches. But during his time on the east coast, he only ever tallied one goal, and that was while on loan at the affiliate club Richmond Kickers.

“Miguel is a talented midfielder who has experience playing in Major League Soccer. We think he will contribute to our team this season as he continues to develop as a player. We are excited to add him to our roster,” Mike Muñoz, the LA Galaxy II Head Coach, said in the official statement.

It is expected that Aguilar is going to be a key puzzle piece in the starting XI throughout the season. He has MLS experience and was highly touted coming out of college, where he played for the University of San Francisco.
