When the LA Galaxy and Columbus Crew meet on Saturday at StubHub Center, both teams will be a missing a combined total of 11 players. A mix of injuries and individuals on international duty means some of the gloss has been taken away from this match.
This, however, doesn’t mean the match is worth any less. The Galaxy, who will be missing Gyasi Zardes, Jelle Van Damme, Steven Gerrard, and Robbie Keane, are still winless in their last six games and desperately need a win to right the ship heading into the playoffs.
The Columbus Crew, on the other hand, are in penultimate position in the Eastern Conference Standings. They too will be missing several key players, including Justin Meram, Tony Tchani, Federico Higuain, and Will Trapp. In spite of not being able to earn a win in Southern California since 2007, Gregg Berhalter’s team will need a positive result if they want to keep their dim playoff hopes alive.
Match date/time: Saturday 10:30 pm EST, 7:30 pm local
Venue: StubHub Center, Carson, California
TV: TWCSN, TWC Deportes (Spanish)
Streaming: MLS Live (Local Blackout)
