On Sunday, the last two MLS Cup champions face off at StubHub Center in one of two regular season matches this MLS campaign.
Finally some good news on the injury front for the Galaxy, Mexican forward Giovani Dos Santos is expected to make a likely return to the starting lineup after picking up an injury in opening game of the season.
And that's all the more relevant here because Bruce Arena's side will be without captain Robbie Keane leading the line for the second game running following surgery on his right knee.
The Portland Timbers, meanwhile, arrive to this game winless in their last three games. Their last match was a tough 4-1 defeat at Orlando City, and their game against the Galaxy represents their second away game in two matches.
The Galaxy are unbeaten in their first two home games of the season, but with a Portland win, it would not be the first time they disrupt their home momentum. The Timbers last beat the Galaxy 5-2 on their way towards clinching their first MLS Cup trophy.
Earlier in the week, Bruce Arena admitted that game was long over, but you'd imagine that for the Galaxy, redemption is one thing that will be on several players' minds.
