Jeff Larentowicz signs with Atlanta United FC

Big Red switches clubs

Jeff Larentowicz’s time in Los Angeles has come to a close. The 33-year-old veteran midfielder signed with expansion club Atlanta United FC as a free agent.

Last season, Larentowicz made 29 appearances for the Galaxy, providing cover in the middle of the park following the sudden departure of Nigel de Jong and chipping in a goal and an assist.

The move was basically expected. Larentowicz was already a free agent, and with LA trading for the rights to Jermaine Jones, there was no pressing need for Big Red to stick around.

It hasn’t taken long for the Galaxy to address their major priority during the off-season: Rebuilding the central midfield. Despite concerns about his health, Jermaine Jones is a quality addition to the roster, and there are rumors of Joe Corona desiring a move to LA as well. And of course, Juninho also wants to come back.

The next few weeks should be very interesting.
