Based on the short amount of time since Bruce Arena’s departure, the lack of news on the Galaxy looking at other options, and Chris Klein traveling nowhere to interview other coaches, all signs point towards Curt Onalfo as the chosen candidate.

With the short turn around time, one has to think that this coaching choice was encouraged by Bruce Arena, and that Onalfo will be able to use Arena as a advisory resource with the National Team in camp at Stub Hub Center in January. Onalfo will need it, as Bruce is expected to pull from his old assistant coaching team (not to mention taking a few Galaxy players for camp as well) to build out his US Men’s National Team staff. As a result, Onalfo will need to build out his own coaching team asap with Galaxy camp starting in late January.
He’ll also need to win over fans. On the heels of losing arguably the greatest American coach in soccer, Curt Onalfo is a very underwhelming choice, even including his work with Los Dos.
With Gerrard and Keane departing, Landon Donovan going back into retirement, and Bruce Arena riding in on a white horse to save the National Team, the Galaxy is looking at a very large overhaul in 2017. New coach, new assistant coaches, new players.... This team is a league standard, and with a relatively unknown head coach, and losing three iconic names, the Galaxy have to do some serious wheeling and dealing this offseason to adhere to its own brand.
We can’t say it’s been boring.
