GianlucaDiMarzio.com reported on Thursday that the LA Galaxy are interested in Dutch international Nigel de Jong and are on the verge of signing Aston Villa defender Joleon Lescott.

The article by David Amoyal notes that De Jong isn't getting minutes with AC Milan this season and the club and player could be ready to part ways.

De Jong, 31, has been known to be a defensive minded midfielder with proven pedigree, playing for Ajax, Hamburger SV, and Manchester City. He was part of Ajax's Eredivisie-winning team in 2003-04 and won the English Premier League title for Manchester City in 2011-12.

He has also participated in two World Cups (2010 and 2014), as well as two European Football Championships (2008 and  2012).

The article does also say Bruce Arena's side is close to signing former England international Joleon Lescott.

Lescott, 33, signed for boyhood club Aston Villa last September and has spent his entire career in England. He won two league titles with Manchester City, along with a FA Cup and Football League Cup.

If the reports are accurate, both De Jong and Lescott would serve as direct reinforcements after the departures of Omar Gonzalez and Juninho.
