There's been quite a lot of rumors coming out in the past few hours about Giovani Dos Santos' potential move to MLS and the LA Galaxy. The Spanish-language commentators during the Seattle Sounders vs. D.C. United telecast suggested that Giovani's dad was on board with the move. However, there was hesitation from Giovani's part, and a final decision wouldn't be made until early August.
In an interview with Univision on Monday, Giovani Dos Santos admitted there was interest from LA Galaxy but hinted a decision on his transfer status would only be made at the conclusion of Mexico's participation in the Gold Cup.
"They [Galaxy] are one of the teams that want me", Giovani told Univision's Rodolfo Landeros, but went on to say "but i can't shut the door on any other teams" while reiterating he still has a contract at Villarreal.
This was in contrast to reports from earlier on the day from Terra that suggested that Giovani and the Galaxy had already struck a deal, with Giovani winning an estimated 9 million dollars a year. The report also stated the signing wouldn't be announced until the conclusion of the Gold Cup.
Giovani, 26, is currently with the Mexico national team ahead of their Gold Cup debut against Cuba and is expected to start for El Tri on Thursday. Stay tuned for more Gio news.
