Could've, Should've, Would've. Former LA Galaxy starting goalie and fan favorite, Jaime Penedo, abruptly left the team back in early July after irreparable contractual issues with the team. Penedo had been with the team nearly two years prior to his exit, posting a 1.09 GAA (third in MLS history among qualifiers) and recording 17 shutouts. He also was part of the MLS Cup winning side that defeated the New England Revolution to capture the Galaxy's fifth championship.
While preparing for a friendly against CONCACAF Cup champions Mexico, Penedo admitted he could've handled the situation differently:
"Maybe I regret it a little bit," said the Panamanian. "I should have, probably, sought better advice."
The ultimate reason for which he left was not about money, but over the length of his contract. At the moment he is still without a club, fueling perhaps these second thoughts.
The Galaxy wasted no time in finding a replacement for "San Penedo", re-aquring former goalkeeper of the year Donovan Ricketts.
