As the calendar turns to September, the LA Galaxy see themselves two points off the Supporters' Shield lead with nine match weeks left to be played. After their makeup match with DC United, LA have caught up with the rest of Major League Soccer with twenty five games played on match week 25.

The teams below them in the standings, Real Salt Lake and FC Dallas, have played an extra match. The Galaxy are currently thirteen points ahead of the playoff line, riding a red hot four match winning streak since the debacle in Columbus. The Sounders have gotten back to back victories after a brief summer slump.

It won't be until the third week of the month that the Galaxy will face a fellow playoff contender, hosting FC Dallas and then the New York Red Bulls in succession. LA will face Dallas one more time in October, before finishing out the season with two matches against the Seattle Sounders.
