Speaking to reporters after the unveiling of the new MLS crest, Don Garber revealed that the amount of the fine levied at LA Galaxy manager Bruce Arena was for the amount of $20,000.

Garber also said the league had fined Los Angeles Galaxy coach Bruce Arena $20,000 for criticizing the MLS in comments to The Washington Post over the uncompleted deal to acquire Anderlecht midfielder Sacha Kljestan.

That is a significant amount of money, and it validates why Bruce Arena told reporters he isn't going to comment until he's got proper legal advice. That's the kind of fine one contests. MLS fines are rarely at this level, as MLS salaries aren't at a level where $20k is petty cash.

The AP report also says that Don Garber confirmed that Chivas USA may be on hiatus next season, but that option depends on what the new ownership wants to do.

Are you surprised the fine is that much for Bruce Arena speaking out.
