The LA Galaxy starting lineup has been announced for their match against the Vancouver Whitecaps. Jaime Penedo is still excused with international duty, so Brian Rowe gets a second start, but Robbie Keane is back and starting up top with Gyasi Zardes. The back line and midfield is where things have gotten experimental, with Bruce Arena electing to go with a 3-5-2 formation as LA runs out of fullbacks to run out.
Neither James Riley nor Robbie Rogers was thought to be fit to go ninety minutes, so Arena has elected to go with three at the back. Baggio Husidic starts on the left side as an extra midfielder. The goal of the midfield will be to keep the ball in the Galaxy's half, a somewhat tougher ask in a midweek game after cross country travel.

Both Rogers and Riley are available off the bench. I imagine one of them will come in to work on fitness after halftime ahead of the match in San Jose.

Thirty-eight year old Marco di Vaio made a run at the MLS Golden Boot last season, but dealing with injuries this year has only five goals. Their 4-2-3-1 formation should mean a clogged midfield tonight.
