The LA Galaxy face a tough task on Wednesday, taking on a Colorado Rapids team that beat them 1-0 last time out just four days after Columbus handed them their worst loss of the season. The Galaxy have some issues to sort out with injuries, but all signs are pointing to the Rapids being worse off in that department.
Colorado were without Shane O'Neill the first time these two teams got together, but since then he's been part of the starting center back pairing with Drew Moor. Now the Rapids are going to loose both of them for the remainder of the season, both with knee injuries.
Marvell Wynne has been filling in for O'Neill. Wynne started for Colorado in the first match against LA but according to WhoScored was the weak point on Colorado's back line in that narrow victory. A myriad of injury concerns has kept Wynne in Colorado's starting lineup throughout the year, but the ratings show him a much better right back than center back. The other replacement for Colorado is rookie Jared Watts. The Rapids have gone 1-5-0 and allowed 13 goals since O'Neill's injury.
This is how Colorado lined up against Real Salt Lake in a 0-1 home loss. Their 4-2-3-1 produced 16 attempts from open play with no goals, while RSL got the win with six total attempts. The Rapids haven't won since they beat Chivas USA 3-0 on July 25th.
If LA can muster anything resembling an attack this would be a great set up win for a six point week.
