After ESPN's World Cup doubleheader this morning, NBC Sports Network resume MLS broadcasts with a doubleheader of its own featuring LA Galaxy vs. Portland Timbers as the nightcap. With coverage beginning at 8:00pm Pacific, John Strong and Robbie Mustoe will call the action as Landon Donovan looks to increase his all-time goal lead and MLS assist co-leader Diego Valeri of the Timbers tries to find road points.
Omar Gonzalez is back in the states after his World Cup run with the United States, but is not expected to feature tonight. With Tommy Meyer and Kofi Opare managing a clean sheet last time out, expect them to remain the center backs with Leonardo relegated to the bench.
Undefeated in their last five matches, the Galaxy drew with the Timbers in Portland the first time these two clubs played this season. All-time against the Timbers in Carson the LA Galaxy are without a loss.
Last time out Bruce Arena made four changes from the side that drew level with Chivas USA. Even though that group managed a close victory over San Jose, it's likely not enough to get Arena to stick with the same group a week later. Juninho and A.J. DeLaGarza won't sit two straight matches out, so that's at least one or two changes.
