Landon Donovan has been named MLS player of the week by the North American Soccer Reporters for week 24 of the MLS season. His hat trick continued his hot form from the CONCACAF Gold Cup, his fourth career hat trick in MLS play.
Since we've covered the hat trick performance fairly extensively, let's take this as an opportunity to sit back and watch the highlights. First there was the goal just before halftime with Robbie Keane sending up a long ball that Donovan got on the end of and popped it over Chris Seitz and then smashed into the back of the net.
In the second half Donovan scored in the 73rd minute, when he smashed in a half volley from outside the box.
Finally he completed the hat trick with his second goal in nine minutes, beating George John to a loose ball and then beating Seitz far post.
Congratulations on a well deserved player of the week to Landon Donovan
