LA Galaxy send Bryan Gaul, Kenney Walker on loan to Ft. Lauderdale

The LA Galaxy cleared some roster space with the summer transfer window about to close, sending Bryan Gaul and Kenney Walker on loan to Ft. Lauderdale.

Steven Bisig-US PRESSWIRE

The LA Galaxy announced today that their thirty man roster is down to twenty-eight, with Bryan Gaul and Kenney Walker going on loan to the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers through the end of the year. The NASL fall season begins next week, and the players are set to join Ft. Lauderdale ahead of their opener against the reborn New York Cosmos.

Neither Gaul nor Walker have made a regular season appearance with the LA Galaxy this season, and both were part of the trio that trained with Hammarby before Gregg Berhalter was fired. Bruce Arena was able to work out another loan deal fairly quickly after that possibility fell through.

It's worth keeping in mind how much Arena has worked to clear roster space with the transfer window about to close. It wouldn't be surprising to see the Galaxy make one or two big moves in the upcoming weeks. There's another move to be made here and we haven't seen what it is yet.

It's also interesting that Charlie Rugg, who performed best in the training stint for Hammarby, remains in LA. There is certainly more to this story to come in the next few weeks.
