Sports Illustrated's Grant Wahl has the ins and outs for the United States national team heading into the knockout stage of the Gold Cup. Jurgen Klinsmann has asked for his A-squad back line, which means Omar Gonzalez won't be available for this weekend's match:
US Gold Cup player changes: OUT-Ashe, Gómez, McInerney, Onyewu. IN-González, Gordon, E. Johnson, Besler.

This is good news for the national team, although defense wasn't much of a problem in the group stage, as they look to make it to the Gold Cup final and secure a spot in the playoff for the 2017 Confederations Cup CONCACAF spot.
For the Galaxy it means A.J. DeLaGarza will have to partner with either Tommy Meyer or Leonardo this weekend. Tommy Meyer is the more likely choice. The Vancouver Whitecaps have a talented goalscorer in Camilo Sanvezzo, not to mention Russel Teibert and Kakuteh Manneh so Meyer will have to step up big right away.
Update: CONCACAF has confirmed that Gonzalez has been called into camp.
