  • The LA Galaxy will kick off against Real Salt Lake at 6:30 on Time Warner Cable Sportsnet. One of four matches kicking off today, the Salt Lake Tribune claims that the LA defeat of RSL with a reserve squad in April sparked their current run of good form. The mlssoccer story also went with the revenge angle.
  • The big story last night was the United States' 2-1 victory over Jamaica. Galaxy's Omar Gonzalez started yet again, but it was another MLS star who took the spotlight. Grant Wahl writes on Brad Evans coming up big in unfamiliar territory. The New York Times recap focused on how the victory gets the US one step closer to Brazil despite the momentary stumble giving up the equalizer.
  • While the US were getting one of the rarest commodities in international football, three points on the road, Mexico once again struggled to a nil-nil draw - this time on the road in Panama. This fourth draw in qualifying has Mexico currently in third place, tied with the US and Costa Rica (winners 1-0 over Honduras yesterday) all with seven points. Mexico (along with last place Jamaica) has played one more match than the rest of the group - which will catch up on June 18th. This means Mexico could come back from the Confederations Cup and find themselves in fourth place or even fifth place.
  • Other MLS action today: DC United at New England - 4:30 MLS Live; Portland at Chicago - 5:30 MLS Live; Vancouver at Seattle FC - 7:30 NBC Sports
