LA Galaxy vs. Vancouver Whitecaps: Lineup analysis and more

LA Galaxy have announced their lineup against Vancouver Whitecaps, and it only features on change from last week. Hector Jimenez starts pushing Landon Donovan up top with Jose Villarreal.

USA TODAY Sports

LA Galaxy have released their eighteen man roster for the match this afternoon against Vancouver Whitecaps, and despite Todd Dunivant saying he wanted to try and go today he's not featured. There are some changes from the lineup trotted out last week that lost 1-0 to Houston Dynamo.

To address the lack of leadership at the top last week, Bruce Arena has paired Jose Villarreal with Landon Donovan. Gyasi Zardes is available off the bench, but last week's starter Charlie Rugg is not. After last week's match Arena was honest in saying he didn't feel Rugg performed well

football formations-Hector Jimenez gets the start today

Rugg's absence is the only change from last week, with Hector Jimenez starting in his place. He's taking the spot Donovan left open starting up top with Villarreal. Opta stats have shown us Jimenez' shortcomings in distribution, but he'll have Donovan in front of him and Franklin overlapping him.

Leonardo is available off the bench, but it seems Arena has gotten over the beginning of the year lineup with Leonardo starting next to Gonzalez. Formerly favored, Leonardo hasn't seen time since his red card against FC Dallas.

LA Galaxy subs: Rowe, Meyer, Leonardo, Garcia, Stephens, Clark, Zardes

Colin Clark may be getting himself out of the doghouse, making the eighteen today.

Whitecaps FC Starting XI: (4-3-3) Cannon; Lee, O'Brien, Leveron, Rochat; Reo-Coker, Davidson, Koffie; Kobayashi, Mattocks, Camilo

Whitecaps FC Subs: Brad Knighton, Jordan Harvey, Brad Rusin, Kekuta Manneh, Corey Hertzog, Tommy Heinemann, Russell Teibert

The Whitecaps have never beaten LA Galaxy. The match will kick off at 4:00pm on Time Warner Cable Sportsnet.
