CONCACAF Champions League Semi-Finals dates set

The LA Galaxy will face Monterrey on April 3rd at The Home Depot Center and then travel to Monterrey for the return leg on April 10th.

The schedule for the CONCACAF Champions League semi-finals has been released, and Ives Galarcep has the details:

April 3rd is a Wednesday, with three days of rest after the Galaxy travel to Toronto and two days of rest before the Galaxy have to take on the Montreal Impact at The Home Depot Center.

Having a home date between the two legs of the semi-final is helpful, but the timing means the match against Montreal is one the Galaxy have to punt. Getting the match moved to Sunday wouldn't help because that would simply reduce the amount of rest time before the Galaxy have to go to Monterrey.

The first reserve league match of the year is on April 7th at the LA Blues. The Galaxy U-18 team might have to take that one. Mismanagement of the roster during a highly impacted first two weeks last year is what caused the Galaxy to start off slow and lose to Toronto FC in the Champions League tournament.

Colin Clark being Cup tied makes him available for Galaxy vs. Montreal. If Landon Donovan doesn't return for the Galaxy's match against Monterrey, he's a possibility. Brian Perk is a capable keeper, the Galaxy might be able to throw something together.

Of course, another solution is to get the Galaxy vs. Montreal match moved to another week. There's a good opening on May 1st, but if LA make it to the finals in CONCACAF Champions League the second leg of the final would be held that day.
