Jurgen Klinsmann has named his roster for the upcoming October World Cup Qualifier, and LA Galaxy designated players Landon Donovan and Omar Gonzalez are both included. The series starts with a home match against Jamaica on October 11th in Kansas City, and then ends with a road qualifier on Oct. 15 in Panama City.
The LA Galaxy are off this upcoming weekend, but do get back into the swing of things on October 16th hosting the Montreal Impact. It's possible Arena could have worked out a deal that sees Gonzalez and Donovan return after the match in Kansas City, but that's pure speculation. The US has already qualified for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
"We want to finish qualifying on a high note and prove a point in our region," said Klinsmann. "We don't view these games as the end of World Cup qualifying. For us, it's the start of preparations for the World Cup, and therefore we have to continue to raise the bar. We have had such amazing support from our fans throughout the last two years, and we owe it to them to put our best foot forward."
There are teams losing players who have to play through round 34 next weekend. The Seattle Sounders host the Vancouver Whitecaps, and Sporting Kansas City are away at Houston Dynamo. The players will start gathering today, with those in action today joining up after their MLS duty.
