Last night another episode of MLS Insider aired and it featured LA Galaxy players Jose Villarreal and Landon Donovan talking about their soccer careers.
For Jose Villarreal, the focus was on him representing a part of MLS' future: players born in the US with Mexican roots. We get to see the part of Inglewood where Villarreal grew up, and his parents are interviewed in Spanish. It's interesting to see the proud father with a love for Mexican soccer, who cheers for the US too now that his son is in the system. His is the first interview in this full episode:
Landon Donovan's interview was conducted by Jimmy Conrad. The two are clearly friends, but Donovan touches on his relationship with celebrity and what he believes is why he's been so successful. He's clearly a believer in hard work, and credits the records he's set to break on the power of repetition. Still, you don't get fast tracked through the system without a ton of raw talent (as Jose Villarreal is currently experiencing). Here's Donovan's interview, conducted in the lounge above StubHub Center:
Each episode ends with a best and worst. Robbie Keane's open net miss in the match against Chivas made "worst miss by a designated player".
