Anticipating the Galaxy's new kits for 2013

This article with MLS' head adidas designer is our reminder that the LA Galaxy will be getting two new kits with the new MLS season. As MLS designs on a two year cycle, it is time for LA to get a new away kit and a new third kit. They will be officially released when MLS reveals all the new kits for the 2013 season.

The LA Galaxy were supposed to unveil the fan designed third kit to be worn in 2013 on October 6th, Fan Appreciation Night (link). That didn't happen, and the subsequent word has been that the kit will be unveiled at some point before the 2013 season.

The punjab kit the debuted in the middle of 2011 was the Galaxy's first third kit, and was mostly used for friendlies and other special occasion events. When we last left the third kit contest, it was between the 1996 inspired black kit and the light blue kit.

The away kit was last redesigned in 2011, when the Galaxy lightened the shade of blue from collegiate blue to the blue of the Galaxy crest (link). If I had to guess the direction the away kit is going to go, it would be still blue, but with the new sash incorporated in some way. At any rate, the unnecessary shoulder pads should be a thing of the past.

What the Galaxy got with the 2012 home kit, is something interesting and distinctive to go with the clean all white look. It would be great for the away kit to join in on the fun.
