It what is certainly a precautionary move, David Beckham has joined Landon Donovan on the list of players questionable for Friday's match against the Colorado Rapids. He is listed as questionable with a left ankle sprain, something he picked up during the Galaxy's 2-0 defeat of Vancouver. Beckham came off shortly after his free kick goal to seal the game.
Landon Donovan said after the reserve league match yesterday that "I'll be ready for Friday". He seemed confident that playing as a forward would increase the amount of time he could go. That's a bit different than the quote Adam Serrano got from Bruce re: Beckham, that "he might be" ready to go on Friday.
Still, I expect to see both names in the starting XI. It's an important match which could put the Galaxy in the drivers seat for avoiding the one match play in. In other IR news Edson Buddle, who went 57 mins in the reserve league match, is off the list completely. He'll still probably be a super sub going forward. David Junior Lopes is still listed as questionable.
Of course, Kyle Nakazawa was announced as out for the season when Christian Wilhelmsson was brought in, and Leonardo is unlikely to return again after hitting a major block in his recovery.
