Morning Galaxy fans! Yesterday, Chivas USA took on Real Salt Lake at the Home Depot Center, and were solidly beaten 0-3. The pitch described as choppy, apparently not yet recovered from the Wango Tango concert held at the HDC. So be prepared for a bumpy pitch (not the company, though I'm sure you'll see plenty of their stuff around) as the LA Galaxy try to turn their season around against the Portland Timbers.
The Galaxy will have to do it without Robbie Keane, Edson Buddle, and Leonardo (though doing it without Leonardo isn't new, it's just a setback), Hector Jimenez, Mike Magee, and Michael Stephens. Landon Donovan has played four matches over the two week break. David Beckham is suspended after his next yellow card. Things look a bit bleak.
Still, let's see what the papers have to say about it:

Landon Donovan is back for L.A., but injuries, international duty and other absences leave the 3-8-2 Galaxy short-handed against the Portland Timbers on Sunday.

The Galaxy have had nearly three weeks to ponder their status as the last-place squad in the Western Conference of MLS. When they resume play this afternoon at Home Depot Center against Portland, though, the last thing they want to think about is the tired "the season starts today" motivational mantra.
