The LA Galaxy have repeated as MLS Cup champions. They defeated the Houston Dynamo 3-1 coming back from a 1-0 halftime deficit. Let that sink in for a moment, just embrace it.
Omar Gonzalez was awarded the Man of the Match award. His header equalized things for the Galaxy and from there everything changed. His presence on defense, his imposing body in the middle kept Houston from being able to get on the end of their crosses. Gonzalez absolutely deserved MVP.
Landon Donovan put away a penalty. Robbie Keane put away a penalty. Neither were controversial. After the Omar Gonzalez goal, the Galaxy had opportunity after opportunity. Things just opened up.
If you were there, it was a great experience. Thirty thousand some fans who were absolutely into the match from the moment of the first whistle. This was a stadium full of people who absolutely cared about the match and the result. Who didn't leave until well after the final whistle.
It was a great day for the Galaxy, and a great day for Major League soccer. I'll have more to say after the press conference. Celebrate, for the Galaxy did not yield.
