Christian Wilhelmsson's Salary Unveiled In Updated Survey

The MLS Players association unveiled their updated salary survey, and with it we can take a closer look at just how the Galaxy were able to snag Christian Wilhelmsson. Listed as Vilhelmsson on the salary survey, Chippen looks to be guaranteed $190,650 for his services in 2012.

There are a few Galaxy players who will get more from the club this year; Omar Gonzalez, Edson Buddle, Sean Franklin, and Chad Barrett on loan are all higher that Chippen on the salary scale. Marcelo Sarvas sits directly below Vilhelmsson.

The full list of player salaries can be found here. It's always a bit humbling to see the salaries reserve players make, and anyone who's read Grant Wahl's book knows the conditions they are sometimes forced to live in. Even the DP salaries are paltry when compared to other US athlete salaries.

Finally, a reminder that one simply cannot add up the salaries on the list and judge salary cap compliance. Allocation money and other means make these numbers all out of context. However, for information purposes they can go a long way.
