Hey happy homies. It's a nice sunny day here in Carson. I've only slammed the door in the face of one crazy evangelical, so y'know, good times and yeah let's get to the soccer. On the eve of the Galaxy's biggest match of the year, it's time to get fired up. You see:

Which I think is a fair statement. Galaxy fans, and Los Angeles soccer fans in general can be really loud when they want to. It's just getting them to show up which is always the issue. Real Salt Lake uses up their last game in hand tomorrow against Chicago. There's a very real chance that Saturday's match could be the last mathematically relevant regular season match the Galaxy play this year. If things aren't wrapped up on Saturday, there's still three more chances!
Wednesday for the Galaxy, everything is on the line. Win, and the Galaxy are in striking distance. Lose, and the Galaxy are in deep, deep doo doo.
Group A
Team | Pld | W | L | D | GF | GA | GD | Pts |
Morelia | 4 | 3 | 1 | 0 | 8 | 2 | +6 | 9 |
Alajuelense | 4 | 3 | 1 | 0 | 6 | 4 | +2 | 9 |
Los Angeles Galaxy | 4 | 2 | 2 | 0 | 5 | 3 | +2 | 6 |
Motagua | 4 | 0 | 4 | 0 | 2 | 12 | -10 | 0 |
That's the table. That's what the Galaxy are up against. Motagua is in another dimension, and they're away this tie so chalk up another loss there. Alajuelense will go tops with 12 points. The Galaxy can either join Morelia at nine points, with a victory, or kiss Champions League goodbye. Hypothetically, the Galaxy are still in it with a draw, but then they're praying for Morelia to lose at home to Alajuense, by a ridiculous margin.
Anyhow, if you're only planning on turning up for one Galaxy match this week, Wednesday is the one to be at.
Also, in case you're wondering:
adamserrano Bruce Arena said no decision made yet on Keane (R Glute tightness) or Birchall (L Hamstring strain). Both day to day & listed questionable. 9/27/11 11:41 AM |
What say you? Are you as fired up as me about this Champions League tilt?
