The USA Men's Socccer Team announced the roster today for the January camp which will open in Arizona on January 3rd and then move to the Home Depot Center, and LA Galaxy centerbacks Omar Gonzalez and A.J. DeLaGarza made the cut. Traditionally this camp is for players not already on the main US roster, who are trying to earn a spot. The US will play a friendly in Glendale, Arizona on January 21st after this camp and then another in Panama City on January 25th.
There are several interesting young players who were invited to the January camp, many who play in MLS: Juan Agudelo, Brek Shea, Kyle Beckerman, and Chris Wondolowski just to name a few. Omar Gonzalez has earned two caps with the US National Team in the past. If A.J. DeLaGarza were to make it into one of the friendlies, he would earn his first cap. He's one of five uncapped players invited to the January camp.
Both players will join the Galaxy pre-season camp after the friendlies. MLS announced that pre-season camps are free to open January 15th. Landon Donovan will miss the entire camp on loan to Everton. Without their center mids, the Galaxy will get to test out Leonardo returning from injury, and perhaps a draft pic or too for a few weeks.
