LA Galaxy Draw Toronto FC In CCL Quarters

Galaxy @ Morelia
Galaxy @ Morelia

There was a 50/50 chance that the LA Galaxy would draw a team from MLS, and they got one in Toronto FC. The draw held today paired up the Galaxy from Group A with Toronto FC from Group C. The other three group winners are Mexican clubs, which sends the other remaining MLS team Seattle Sounders FC to Santos Laguna. Pumas drew Metapan, and in an all Mexico matchup Montererry drew Group A runner up Morelia.

The first legs of the quarterfinals will be played March 6-8 2012, with the second legs March 13-15. The group stage winners are assured the second leg at home, and that they won't face a team from their same group. This does mean they can face a team from the same federation. Toronto FC plays in the same league as the Galaxy, but belong to the Canadian federation.

The bracket hasn't been released, so no semi-final match-ups have been indicated. The Washington Post said on twitter that the Galaxy-Toronto winner would face the Seattle-Santos Laguna winner, but that hasn't been confirmed by CONCACAF. More news as it's available folks, but that's a fairly favorable draw.
