Ahead of Monday's first round of the re-entry draft, the LA Galaxy their players who are eligible for the MLS 2011 Re-Entry Draft. The Re-Entry draft is a form of free agency for MLS, where player can negotiate new contracts with clubs that gain the right to negotiate with them. In last year's re-entry draft, the Galaxy selected Juan Pablo Angel and Luke Sassano, but then traded Sassano for Frankie Hejduk. This year's draft eligible players are:
- Adam Cristman (5)
- Frankie Hejduk (9)
- Dasan Robinson (5)
All three players had their option declined. According to MLS rules, a player who is at least 23 years old and has a minimum of three years MLS experience qualify if their options are not exercised by their club. This means the player is available at his option salary for 2012 (no new contract required).
The Galaxy traded their first round pick in last year's Supplemental Draft for Adam Cristman. Dasan Robinson was acquired in September for Kyle Davies. All three of the players the Galaxy have made available were acquired last year.
Cristman is something as a shock, as not only did he start in MLS Cup, but he started this morning in the Galaxy's match against Indonesia. Players listed for the Re-Entry draft can bow out and renegotiate with their home club, as Jovan Kirovski did last year.
