LA Galaxy's Gyasi Zardes and Juninho have been added to the MLS All-Star gameday roster to face Tottenham Hotspur on July 29th (9 ET, Fox Sports 1, UniMas, TSN, RDS).
Zardes and Juninho will join up with Galaxy defender and fellow All-Star selection Omar Gonzalez, as well as inexplicable snub Ethan Finlay, Sam Cronin, and Waylon Francis, who were also added to replace players forced to withdraw from the match due to injury concerns. Unfortunately for LA Galaxy fans (or maybe fortunately, depending on your opinion of the ASG), Robbie Keane and Steven Gerrard are among those who had to withdraw. But it's fine, there's enough stars in the Galaxy to go around.
This is Gyasi Zardes' first All-Star selection, and it follows a 2014 season in which he scored 16 goals, setting the goalscoring record for a Homegrown player. This season, Gyasi has netted four times while contributing two assists, and has also missed time with the Galaxy due to featuring prominently with the US Men's National Team.
Juninho will be making his third ASG appearance in his six years as a member of the Galaxy (2011, 2013, 2015). He is the only player to appear in each of LA's 23 matches this season, scoring four goals, adding three assists, and being the primary anchor of the team's midfield. That's not a stat that will show up in the box score, but thanks to him neither are plenty of potential opponents' goals.
