The LA Galaxy are in Commerce City today to take on the Colorado Rapids at 6:00 Pacific, but they'll be without a key starter as Marcelo Sarvas suffered an injury in training and could be out for several weeks. The injury occurred on Tuesday, as Omar Gonzalez tackled him while he tried to shoot.
It's being called an MCL sprain, a knee injury that is more severe than the questionable status Sarvas was given on Thursday's injury report. That same report lumps Sarvas in with Todd Dunivant, also more out than questionable, and Brian Perk. James Riley who is recovering from surgery is the only player listed as out.
Robbie Rogers is no longer listed on the injury report, having successfully rehabbed with LA Galaxy II getting extended minutes in two matches. He's certainly a potential to start in Sarvas' place as well as sophomore winger Gyasi Zardes. The other question then is will Bruce Arena stick with his diamond midfield.
