Time to play a bit of catchup, and see how the LA Galaxy's 2-1 defeat of the San Jose Earthquakes over the weekend has affected the minutes chart. We've had a camp update with the LA Galaxy releasing right back trialist Matheau Hall after the match, so the battle at right back seems to be settling down. However, keep in mind that Riley has been getting minutes at left back with Todd Dunivant missing in action.
Jaime Penedo and Rob Friend stayed home nursing themselves back to health (Penedo will be available to start against Real Salt Lake), which gave Perk a big opportunity to show his stuff. Where in the world Brian Rowe has gone is a bit of a mystery. Unlike previous editions of the preseason minutes chart, I'm gonna show the minutes players accrued in this match before getting to the chart. Note that academy goalkeeper Cody Laurendi was the only player to not make it into the match.
Starters: Perk (90); DeLaGarza (63), Gonzalez (63), Leonardo (60), Riley (60); Ishizaki (45), Juninho (60), Sarvas (63), Donovan (63); Zardes (63), Samuel (60).
Subs: Laurendi; Cochrane (30), Opare (30), Hall (27); Gaul (27), Garcia (30), Husidic (45); McBean (27), Hoffman (30), Jamieson IV (27), Venter (27).
Okay, one more thing before the chart. Check out this moving photograph of Gyasi Zardes carving up a defense and letting fly a sliding rocket.
