Mike Magee return to Chicago featured on MLS Insider TV show

USA TODAY Sports

Former LA Galaxy midfielder Mike Magee's return to his hometown of Chicago to play for the Chicago Fire was featured in episode three of MLS Insider TV show on NBC Sports Network on July 5.

When Mike Magee was traded to the Chicago Fire on May 24 for the rights to midfielder Robbie Rogers, it came as a surprise to many LA Galaxy fans that Magee (who still is second on the Galaxy in scoring with six goals) was part of the trade. By contrast, Rogers joining LA had a sense of eventuality to it. Rogers had been working out with the Galaxy and eyeing a comeback after a brief retirement from soccer. MLS Insider on NBC Sports Network showed the Rogers side of the trade in episode one of the series. Episode three, which debuted on Friday, gave fans of Magee a chance to see his side of the story and what going home meant to him and his family.

The segment on Magee can be seen below or you can watch the whole episode here.

So far, MLS Insider has been a great series and I'm glad we got to see the trade from Magee's angle on a deeper level than a press release or a canned statement from a team representative.
