The LA Galaxy's Robbie Keane has been named MLS Player of the Month by the North American Soccer Reporters for July of the 2012 MLS season.
With six matches in July, Keane scored five goals for the Galaxy including braces on July 8th and July 14th and also recorded four assists. He was the key in the Galaxy compiling a 4-1-1 record over the month of July, the Galaxy's best month of the 2012 campaign. Keane combined with fellow DPs Landon Donovan and David Beckham for 11 goals and 11 assists for the club over the month of July.
With nine goals on the season, Keane is currently tied for sixth place in the MLS Golden Boot race. Chis Wondolowski currently leads the race with an astonishing 17 goals.
This is the first time Keane has won MLS player of the month, and the first time a Galaxy player has won the award this season.
