For those keeping score, that's three War of 1812 references over the last two weeks. Who knew America's forgotten war would have so much traction. Anyhow, yesterday the LA Galaxy defeated DC United 3-1 at Home Depot Center, which means it's time to look at how the papers of record recapped this one. The LA Times went with the looking forward angle, while the Daily Breeze looked backwards. The Washington Post is starting to think DC United might be in trouble.

Wouldn't you know it? As soon as the stumbling Galaxy figure things out, beating D.C. United , 3-1, Sunday for its first win this season, it gets the next two weeks off.

So the Galaxy can win after all. Well, they pretty much had to Sunday, and they knew it. "There was definitely some retribution on our mind and we werent going to lose today," defender Todd Dunivant said. "That was the mindset." .
