LA Galaxy Roster Status: Continuing to shift after Re-Entry Draft

Harry How

I've been dragging my feet on switching the roster from wrapping up 2012 to looking forward to 2013 because I'll be honest, I'm gonna miss typing David Beckham's name. Then something happened that made me change my tune.

That's right, with the trade of Edson Buddle to not the Galaxy I'm finally taking us out of 2012 and into 2013. The re-entry draft players have been listed as negotiating and Mike Magee, Brian Perk, and Josh Saunders have all taken on that status. David Beckham and Christian Wilhelmsson have been removed as well as the other players no longer on the roster.

The numbers reflect players left from last year's senior roster, which is why there's that gap between 11 and the reserve roster at 21. The three Homegrown players don't get a number.

Saunders, Perk are both still in negotiations; same with Magee. Gyasi Zardes is also in continued discussions. Kyle Nakazawa, Andrew Boyens, and Pat Noonan are all available for negotiation, but Arena's tone was less positive on them.

Look for the Galaxy to continue to try and add midfield depth this offseason. It's been marked as a priority. Note that Colin Clark would be a relative bargain compared to Christian Wilhelmsson, and that signing William Hesmer (who is fit after his season ending injury) likely means no Josh Saunders.
